

A few ideas to prevent disease to do with your physician(s):
1. Blood pressure should be monitered regularly, see physician or use home automated units.
2. Prevent periodontal disease which increases systemic inflammation causing heart disease etc. by brushing and flossing your teeth daily, and see your dentist for thorough teeth cleaning near gums every six months.
3. Prevent colon cancer by checking for occult blood in stool two times per year with easy to use home tests and colonoscopy every 3 to 5 years.
4. Men can prevent prostate cancer with prostate specific antigen test and digital rectal exam by an urologist every six months.
5. Women can a. Prevent breast cancer with monthly breast self examinations for lumps and mammograms (Xray, ultrasound, MRI, thermography), and b. Prevent cervical cancer with regular pap smears.
6. Prevent skin cancer including squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and deadly melanoma by using sunscreen and avoiding sunlight. Take vitamin D supplements so you are not dependent on sunlight to obtain Vitamin D. Inspect your skin regularly for suspicious lesions, ideally with a partner, and see a dermatologist for diagnosis and removal of suspicious lesions.
7. Ultrasound examinations can rule out abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid artery stenosis and perpheral artery obstruction in the arms and legs.

age-related macular degeneration and
cataracts. Wrap-around
sunglasses that stop ultraviolet
light can reduce cataracts. Eat
spinach and take
supplements of lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin to reduce age-related
macular degeneration.
9. Keep your
Immunizations up to date including annual influenza vaccine.
